Australia Awards Scholarship Applications closing soon
Up to 30 Australia Awards Scholarships are on offer for interested and eligible Solomon Islanders to study in Australia and across the region from 2017.
The Australia Awards will provide successful applicants with the skills and knowledge to drive change and influence economic and social development in Solomon Islands.
Australian High Commissioner, Andrew Byrne, has encouraged eligible Solomon Islanders to apply before the closing date of 5 May 2015.
“The Australia Awards provide equal opportunity to all Solomon Islanders, regardless of their gender, ethnicity and disability and I encourage all eligible men and women to apply,” said High Commissioner Byrne.
Scholarships will be offered in priority sectors where the Solomon Islands Government has identified critical resource gaps. The 2017 priority fields of study include – health (not including medicine), education (post graduate), gender, economics, business and accounting, legal services, engineering (including water, sanitation, construction & mining), fisheries, environmental, agricultural & veterinary studies, and information technology.
Scholarships are merit based, meaning applicants will be assessed purely on their leadership potential, academic competence and their potential to impact on development challenges in Solomon Islands.
Application forms can be collected from the guard house at the Australian High Commission, corner of Hibiscus Avenue and Mud Alley. Further information can be found at the Australian High Commission Solomon Islands website.
The Australia Awards Scholarship team are also conducting scholarship information sessions on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 11am – 12pm at the Australian High Commission Annex, near Heritage Park.
