G’DAY SOLOMON ISLANDS FILM FESTIVAL SET TO TAKE HONIARA BY STORM
The Australian High Commission’s annual film festival is set to take Honiara by storm next week.
The event runs from Thursday 13th August to Saturday 15th August at the Art Gallery Grounds and will feature 3 Australian movies – Paper Planes, Red Dog and Crocodile Dundee 2.
Australian High Commissioner to Solomon Islands Andrew Byrne said this is an opportunity for families to have a free, fun night out and to enjoy classic Australian cinema.
“The Australian High Commission is happy to be hosting the first G’day Solomon Islands Film Festival during August. It’s an opportunity for families to come down to the Art Gallery Grounds, relax and watch their favourite Australian movies.”
The event will also feature singing from Solo Icon contestants at the start of each movie. There will be free water, popcorn and ice lollies. Food and drinks will also be on sale through SIWIBA.
Gates open at 5.30pm with the movie starting at 6.00pm each evening. This is a no alcohol, betelnut or smoking event. Entry to each movie is free. Those attending are encouraged to bring a mat or chair to sit on.
Visit the “Australia in the Solomon Islands” Facebook page over the coming days for more information.
The Australian High Commission would like to thank the event’s sponsors; BSP Bank, Szeba, Frangipani Ice and Extreme Adventures.
