AUSTRALIA ALUMNI UNITE FOR LIFELONG LEARNING

Alumni of the prestigious Australia Awards scholarship program joined forces on Thursday night to discuss leadership and lifelong learning.

Past Awardees met at the Australian High Commission, representing a dynamic and diverse group of leaders from across Solomon Islands.

The Alumni heard addresses from Permanent Secretary for the Ministry of Education and Human Resources Development, Doctor Franco Rodie, and Australian High Commissioner Andrew Byrne.

“Learning doesn’t finish in the classroom,” PS Rodie stated, “true leaders never stop learning.”

Australian High Commissioner Andrew Byrne encouraged attendees to take advantage of the opportunity to connect with fellow leaders from across the country, who have all advanced their skills with the assistance of an Australia Awards Scholarship.

“We have leaders from across Solomon Islands Government, Business Community, Civil Society and Academia, who are united by their passion for lifelong learning and their commitment to their country, Solomon Islands.”

Australia Awards are prestigious international scholarships and fellowships funded by the Australian Government to support the long term development needs of Solomon Islands. Australia Awards support the next generation of Solomon Islands leaders through the opportunity to undertake study, research and professional development.

The Solomon Islands Australia Alumni Association (SIAAA) aims to contribute to the growth and development of Solomon Islands by helping Australia Alumni to remain connected with Australia and each other both socially and professionally.

Former Alumni of the Australia Awards scholarship program are encouraged to get in touch with the SIAAA to learn about upcoming events and professional development opportunities. Alumni can contact SIAAA at email: [email protected] or by phone on 22108 or 7687615 for more information.
