G’Day Solomon Islands Fun Run is on again!

The Australian High Commission is preparing to again say “G’Day” to Solomon Islanders at its annual Fun Run event.

The “G’Day Solomon Islands Fun Run” will be held on Saturday 10 October at the Honiara Art Gallery Grounds. The run will start at 8am, but please come to the Art Gallery Grounds by 7.30am for the warm-up exercises and other fun.

There will be stacks of prizes just for being part of the event, and a free t-shirt for the first 4000 people who register – get in quick!

Australian High Commissioner to Solomon Islands Andrew Byrne says he is looking forward to another strong turnout for the event.

“Last year’s fun run attracted thousands of Honiara residents and we’re hoping that all those people and more will join us again this year.

“It’s a great opportunity for the community to come together for a morning of physical activity and fun. There will also be some great prizes to be won.”

The event’s theme ‘Iumi Stap Helti’ promotes the importance of a healthy lifestyle with fresh food and regular exercise.

“It’s important for all of us to keep fit and stay healthy, and the fun run provides an opportunity for family and friends to exercise together,” said Mr Byrne.

“I’m looking forward to seeing many of the High Commission staff get their running shoes on!”

Fun Run participants will have the option of completing a 3km walk or 5km run and will be treated to a healthy breakfast at the conclusion of the event.

Registration for the event is free. Register as an individual, or get together with your workmates, family, friends or a sports group to register as a team. The first 4,000 registrations will receive a free ‘G’Day Solomon Islands Fun Run’ t-shirt.

Registration forms can be collected from the Australian High Commission in Mud Alley.
