Charles Persson – Business Analyst at SICCI

Charles Persson has been lucky to have lived and worked in several great locations in Australia, with his career also taking him to Italy, South Africa, Taiwan and Malaysia.

His background includes working in the energy efficiency, renewable energy, and building and construction materials industries in project, operations and general management. His arena is quick start greenfields projects, high volume, low cost production and manufacturing and field based activities.

Charles has a bachelor degree in civil engineering and a graduate diploma in strategic marketing.

“When I finished my last job it was the perfect time to look for something new and not typical of my career so far. This led me to Australian Volunteers International and I was successful in applying for this role with the Solomon Islands Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SICCI), based in Honiara for 12 months. I am very glad to be here,” Charles said.

Charles’ role with the Chamber is as Business Analyst, working closely with the SICCI Chief Executive Officer, Dennis Meone, the team and the Board on planning and strategy, and specifically on organisational and financial modelling. Dennis and Charles started at the Chamber at the same time in May this year so it has worked out well in getting established together.

“It has been a real pleasure working with Charles over the last six months to reshape the Chamber. We are now able to make 2017 the very best year in representing the private sector and we plan to make an outstanding contribution to the growth in the business environment, in employment opportunities, and family life in Solomon Islands,” Dennis said.

SICCI is the peak body representing the private sector in Solomon Islands. It speaks for its members in advocating issues with the Solomon Islands Government, State Owned Enterprises, Civil Society Organisations and other institutions; provides services to members, including networking events, information sessions; and links businesses to training providers.

SICCI has a strong, qualified and diverse Management Board and a hardworking, skilled and loyal team.

“It is great working with an enthusiastic young team and I am enjoying meeting people from various organisations and backgrounds in business, government and the community. We are lucky to have so many great partnerships across the country,” said Charles.
